What can a Pentadyne system do for me?
Pentadyne clean energy storage has a lot of great attributes and advantages.
We've found that hospitals using our system particularly value these qualities to protect cath lab, CT, MRI and other uninterruptible patient care equipment:
- Minimal footprint - Compared to a 5-min. VRLA battery cabinet, a comparable capacity Pentadyne flywheel needs only half the floorspace (or 1/5th that of wet cells).
- Elimination of batteries - Medical imaging and treatment systems are particularly tough on UPS batteries due to very brief, but very steep and frequent inrush needs that most UPS rectifiers can’t keep up with. Flywheels handle these inrush needs with aplomb and without degradation.
- Health & safety issues - Lead-acid batteries of all types emit toxic and explosive gases, as well as pose additional risks related to sulfuric acid leakage and hazardous materials handling. Pentadyne flywheels pose no such health and safety risks, nor do they contain any hazardous materials.
- Cost savings - Pentadyne own-and-operate costs are much lower than those of batteries. Over time, each Pentadyne system deployed saves $200,000 over VRLA batteries, even more if replacing wet cells.

Other valuable attributes include:
- 1/10th the energy consumption of other flywheels
- Virtually silent operation
- No concrete pad needs
- No floor loading issues
- Rolls into place and commissions in less than 60 minutes
- Solid, non-"pro-rated" 5-year warranty, standard
- Environmentally responsible/sustainable
- Built in California: seismic zone 4 rated
