What can a Pentadyne system do for me?

Pentadyne clean energy storage has a lot of great attributes and advantages. We’ve found that school districts and universities using our system particularly value these qualities:

  1. Solid reliability - Lead acid batteries are the weakest link in any power continuity system. A Pentadyne flywheel can replace batteries to provide much greater reliability, or, for redundant schemes, they can work in parallel with batteries. In the latter case, your Pentadyne system is always the first line of defense, bridging the time gap to a smooth generator handoff and utterly eliminating any battery cycling.
  2. Cost savings - Pentadyne own-and-operate costs are much lower than those of batteries. Over time, each Pentadyne system deployed saves $200,000 over VRLA batteries, even more if replacing wet cells.
  3. Highest availability, lowest maintenance - Battery banks are the worst, but steel flywheels also incur hours of downtime and thousands in maintenance costs every 2-3 years. The Pentadyne system’s only suggested downtime maintenance is for just one hour once every six years.
  4. Environmental responsibility/sustainability - Over its design life, each Pentadyne flywheel you deploy will mitigate the dumping of more than 15,000 pounds of battery lead and hundreds of gallons of sulfuric acid. Lead-acid battery emissions also contribute to global warming. Pentadyne systems have no emissions.

Other valuable attributes include:

  • Half the footprint of VRLA batteries
  • 80% smaller footprint than wet cells
  • Virtually silent operation
  • 1/10th the energy consumption of other flywheels
  • No concrete pad needed or floor loading issues
  • Rolls into place and commissions in less than 60 minutes
  • No explosive gas emissions or hazardous materials
  • No acid vapors, spillage or other safety issues
  • Solid, non-"pro-rated" 5-year warranty, standard
  • Built in California: seismic zone 4 rated
