President and CEO

An energy industry veteran with a 23-year track record of successes, Mr. McGough has led Pentadyne to new heights with an enormous expansion of foreign sales, initiation of high volume production of increased-value flywheel systems, significant cost of goods reductions, gross-margin-positive product sales, unseating the incumbant leader in flywheel unit sales, and  winning numerous product and company awards. The company was ranked #162 on the 2008 Inc. 500 list, and #7 among energy companies on the list. Mr. McGough’s leadership also has earned Pentadyne recognition as a 2007 World Economic Forum Technology Pioneer award, and requests for Mr. McGough to speak at the global WEF conference in Davos, Red Herring’s North America 100 event and at the 2008 World Summit on Innovation and Entrepreneurship in Dubai.

Led by Mr. McGough, Pentadyne has been recapitalized by a world-renowned group of investors, saw triple-digit revenue growth in both 2006 and 2007, received the largest order in company history – increasing sales backlog to record heights – and successfully completed the design and launch of a pace-setting next-generation product that has catapulted Pentadyne to become the world's leading manufacturer of flywheel energy storage systems.

Mr. McGough joined Pentadyne from Envinta Corporation and Energetics Pty, Ltd., where he completed a 30-month successful turnaround of the 20-year-old privately-held international energy management firm. As CEO, Mr. McGough increased bookings and profits nearly 200 percent in less than three years and created an attractive exit for investors via a trade sale. Previously, Mr. McGough served as senior vice president of sales and marketing for Silicon Power Corporation, increasing sales of its line of power-quality products by more than 50 percent in 12 months. Prior to his success at Silicon Power, Mr. McGough was the division president and general manager of Maxwell Technologies' ultracapacitor business. Under his leadership, Maxwell successfully launched its PowerCache ultracapacitor product, taking it from a laboratory prototype to the commercial centerpiece of Maxwell's business.

With more than two decades of experience successfully growing international and domestic energy firms, Mr. McGough brings to Pentadyne added expertise in new technology launches, strategic alliances and profit and loss management along with sales, marketing and engineering leadership in the energy technology marketplace.

An accomplished writer and presenter, Mr. McGough has been featured on live TV and radio broadcasts to national audiences.
