Savanna Depot Awards Pentadyne $1.6 Million Order
Savanna, Ill. - Sept. 16, 2004 - Savanna Depot Technologies Corporation (SDTC) announced today that Pentadyne Power Corporation (Pentadyne) has been awarded an order totaling approximately $1.6 million for the initial data center build-out phase of the SDTC project. When all build-out phases are complete, SDTC will host the largest, most secure "green" network of data centers in the world with 402 contiguous sites.
Pentadyne's flywheel will integrate with an uninterruptible power supply (UPS) to provide ride-through power for each client sized data center. The data centers are approximately 1,500 square feet and are constructed from hardened bunkers with 24-inch concrete walls and 6-inch metal blast doors. Located on a natural preserve in northern Illinois, the site's power and telecommunication infrastructure is designed to survive the most ardent grid outage or terrorist strike.
"SDTC is pleased to enter into this definitive agreement with Pentadyne," said SDTC President and Chief Executive Officer, Louis W. Giokas. "We believe this strategic relationship will be a win-win for SDTC and Pentadyne. By working with Pentadyne, SDTC will have access to leading-edge power system solutions that will allow us to better serve our customers."
"Pentadyne is honored to be a part of such a relevant project. We provide the most advanced flywheel technology in the world, which offers our customers the most reliable, economical and environmentally sound power source available. SDTC is a wonderful showcase for the benefits of our flywheel," said Paul Craig, CEO of Pentadyne. "We look forward to participating with SDTC on this project and their upcoming expansion phases."
Preon, a leading Energy Integrator headquartered in Elmhurst Illinois, provides design assistance to the SDTC project as well as procurement and servicing of power quality and distributed generation equipment.
"Preon is very encouraged to see this epic project progress over the last year from concept to implementation. SDTC will be a showcase for the selected vendors and become the standard in robustness and survivability' stated Tim Tawoda, Preon CEO. 'Reliability of the island power infrastructure is 30 times greater than traditional data centers and the site's state-of-the-art security will make it a must-have for all that require IT stability in these not-so-stable times."
