Pentadyne’s Flywheel Energy Storage Solution Selected as Finalist in Plant Engineering’s 2003 Product of the Year Award

Chatsworth, Calif. – October 14, 2003 – The new Pentadyne Voltage Support Solution™ flywheel power system has been nominated as a finalist for Plant Engineering magazine’s “16th Annual Product of the Year Award” for 2003. This award is recognized as a premier honor for new products in the plant engineering market. Pentadyne’s VSS 120, introduced to the marketplace in April 2003, has been selected for this recognition by the editors of Plant Engineering magazine.

To help protect batteries, the Model VSS 120 minimizes battery discharge “whiplash” effects commonly experienced with each use, thus improving battery reliability and preserving battery capacity for occasions that demand a longer back-up time. The Model VSS 120 delivers 2,400 kilowatt-seconds of energy, sufficient to support loads ranging from 120kW for 20 seconds to 10kVA for about 5 minutes.
